I am delighted to welcome your child to 1GB for the new academic year at SCS.
My name is Miss Barnes and I am from a seaside town called Southport. It is located in Merseyside in the North West of England, along the coastline from the vibrant city of Liverpool. I have lived in Dubai since 2020 and have thoroughly enjoyed teaching children from all over the world. In my spare time, I am a keen adventurer and take every opportunity to travel and experience new cultures. My other passion is swimming, having competed at national level when I was younger. I would describe myself as a dedicated and creative practitioner who believes that there is no limit to what children can achieve.
I am extremely proud to have graduated from Edge Hill University with a first class honours degree in Primary Education, specialising in both Mathematics and Early Years Practice. Since graduating in 2017, I have taught in the UK and UAE, primarily in Key Stage One. I believe that children learn best when they are able to take ownership of their learning journey. I am passionate about establishing positive relationships and a nurturing environment, where children learn that mistakes are “magic” and provide them with an opportunity to learn and grow. I look forward to meeting you and welcoming your child to 1GB soon!
