This qualification is designed to support learners who want to study sports as the main element alongside another area of complementary or contrasting study as part of a two- year, full-time study programme. The qualification would support progression to higher education if taken as part of a programme of study that included other BTEC Nationals or International.
During the two years you will cover topics such as:
Fitness training and programming
Leadership in sport
Sports coaching
Health and Nutrition for athletes
Sport Injuries
Sports Psychology
There are 10 modules taught over a two year period. Each unit is assessed between two and five assignments, all of which are internally assessed. There will be no external examination for this course.
Size & Structure
Summary Purpose
This is intended as an Applied General qualification, equivalent in size to two A Levels. It has been designed as part of a two-year programme, normally in conjunction with one or more qualifications at Level 3. This qualification is aimed at learners looking to progress to higher education in this sector.
The sport and active leisure industry are constantly changing and growing, with many different opportunities for employment. For a successful career, it is vital to understand the behaviours, values, skills and techniques required to apply for one of these opportunities.
The Certificate is designed for learners who wish to pursue a career in the sports sector via higher education, to access graduate entry employment in a sports role.
