Child Attendance
Absence Procedure
- Absence due to Illness
- Family Holidays
- Late Procedure
From this academic year, all sickness must be recorded via the Leave Requests section in the Parent Portal. To report an absence, simply hover over the ‘Requests and Forms’ tab on the menu bar and select ‘Absence Reporting’.
Absence reports can be submitted for illness, medical appointments, or personal circumstances, with the option to upload supporting documents securely. These documents are only visible to the relevant staff and are handled in line with data protection regulations.
Parents can also view any previous or pending absence reports directly in the portal. If a student’s sickness extends to a third consecutive day, our reception team will contact you to request further information. Once a report is submitted, parents will receive a confirmation email, and both the reception team and the Form Tutor will be notified, removing the need for parents to call or email reception separately.
The school recognises that pupil absence during term time can seriously disrupt a pupil’s continuity of learning. Parents are therefore strongly urged to avoid booking a family holiday in term time.
- Parents should apply in advance to withdraw pupils from school for a holiday
- No more than one period of holiday of no more than five (5) days in any academic year can be authorised
- Holidays are not authorised in September or May or the first and last week of each term
Leave requests are now available via the Parent Portal. To submit a leave request for your child, go to Requests and Forms > Electronic Forms > Leave Requests. Please note that these requests are subject to approval by a member of our Senior Leadership Team, and you will receive a response via email.
- Once school has started, your class teacher will not let you enter the classroom without providing a Late Slip.
- Children must report to reception to sign in the late book so that we are aware that they are attending school.
- They will be escorted to class by a member of staff and be given a late slip which will be handed to the class teacher.
- Your child must be ‘registered’ as attending each day in case of a fire or emergency.
- Lateness is monitored by the Headteacher and the KHDA.
