Child Attendance
Absence Procedure
- Absence due to Illness
- Family Holidays
- Late Procedure
When a child is unwell, parents should email the school before 8AM on the first day of absence informing the school of the reason for absence. Every effort should be made to arrange medical appointments outside school hours. If it is necessary for a child to be out of school for this reason, the child should be returned to school directly after the appointment.

To report an absence using the iSAMS parent app/portal:
Parents can now report absences through the Parent Portal. To report an absence, please follow the steps below. The process is the same for both desktop and mobile.
Select Requests & Forms > Electronic Forms > Student Absence.
Once submitted, both our reception team and your child’s form tutor will receive an email notification regarding your child’s absence. Our reception team will then send an email confirming receipt of your absence form.
The school recognises that pupil absence during term time can seriously disrupt a pupil’s continuity of learning. Parents are therefore strongly urged to avoid booking a family holiday in term time.
- Parents should apply in advance to withdraw pupils from school for a holiday
- No more than one period of holiday of no more than five (5) days in any academic year can be authorised
- Holidays are not authorised in September or May or the first and last week of each term
Leave requests are now available via the Parent Portal. To submit a leave request for your child, go to Requests and Forms > Electronic Forms > Leave Requests. Please note that these requests are subject to approval by a member of our Senior Leadership Team, and you will receive a response via email.
- Once school has started, your class teacher will not let you enter the classroom without providing a Late Slip.
- Children must report to reception to sign in the late book so that we are aware that they are attending school.
- They will be escorted to class by a member of staff and be given a late slip which will be handed to the class teacher.
- Your child must be ‘registered’ as attending each day in case of a fire or emergency.
- Lateness is monitored by the Headteacher and the KHDA.
