Anita Kumar

German Teacher

My name is Anita Kumar and I am one of the German teachers at SCS. I am from Tyrol, a region in the western part of Austria, famous for its mountains and ski resorts.

About Me

I graduated from University of Innsbruck and University of Manchester with a Master’s degree in German Philology and a PGCE from the University of Nottingham. I speak German, English, Serbo-Croatian and Italian. Over the past decade in Dubai I have taught children of different age groups and different nationalities in MFL German and German Mother Tongue. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the beach and traveling.

My Experience

After teaching German as a second and foreign language to children and adults in Austria for a couple of years, I moved to Dubai in 2012, where I joined the bilingual school “The Children’s Garden” in DIP as a German KG2 teacher. I truly enjoyed my four years at TCG and I am still delighted to meet students I taught back then, now teenagers, some of them even here at Safa. I then joined “Language One” as a German mother tongue teacher and Head of German Department, before taking some time off from teaching to stay at home and raise my two boys. In 2019 I started my journey here at Safa Community School teaching German mother tongue to Primary students and German Modern Foreign Language (MFL) in Secondary School. I offer every year different ECAs related to German, usually catering to our MFL students in diffents key stages as well as to our native speakers in German in KS3.
