Hello, my name is Emily Allen, and I am delighted to be joining Lucinda as SCS’s second school counsellor. Throughout my career in education, I have developed a strong passion for the emotional and social development of children, as I believe it lays the foundation for their success in life. My philosophy is centred around providing children with a safe and nurturing space where they can freely express their worries and concerns. I strongly believe in working collaboratively with students, colleagues, and parents, forming a supportive team that ensures every child receives the support and care they need.
Originally from a small village in Lincolnshire in the UK, I made the move from London to Dubai six years ago. I feel very fortunate to live in a place that celebrates diversity and brings together people from all over the world. My educational background includes a BSc in sociology, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), and an MSc in psychology.
I am fascinated by the study of human behaviour, both at an individual level and within the dynamics of groups and relationships. I am committed to equipping individuals with the tools they need to navigate challenging situations with confidence and resilience. Outside of work, I enjoy experimenting with new recipes, travelling to new places and more recently – learning Italian!
My journey in the field of education and psychology has been a rewarding one, allowing me to acquire valuable skills and experiences that have shaped my approach as a counsellor. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with diverse groups of students, both in London and Dubai. Prior to joining SCS, I had the opportunity to provide online counselling for a UK-based company, where I supported teenagers as they navigated through various social and emotional struggles. I have also undergone specialised training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and bereavement support.
