My name is Fionnuala Marriner and I am from a beautiful city in Ireland called Belfast. I have been living in Dubai since 2017, when I joined the Safa Community School.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the incredible journey I have had over the past years living in Dubai. It has been an enriching experience, and I feel fortunate to have met wonderful people from all corners of the globe and to have had the opportunity to learn about diverse cultures. I have a fascination for discovering new ways to teach and create an engaging learning environment in the classroom. As the Assistant Head of Curriculum and Learning and Teaching, my primary focus is to ensure that at SCS, we cultivate an atmosphere that fosters a love for lifelong learning, encourages critical thinking, and nurtures the unique talents of each child. I consider myself extremely lucky to be part of the Safa Family. The sense of belonging and unity within our school community is truly inspiring!
When I joined Safa Community School in 2017, I started as a Year 2 teacher and Head of KS1 Science, a role I embraced with enthusiasm and dedication. By the start of my second year, I was honoured to be appointed as the Head of English, further expanding my contributions to the curriculum team. Being a part of the curriculum team has been a rewarding experience, allowing me to collaborate closely with our middle and senior leadership teams. Through our collective efforts, we have been able to establish strong relationships and work collaboratively to provide the best possible opportunities for our students. With the invaluable experience I have gained teaching across various key stages and serving as part of the curriculum team, I am excited to be taking on the role of ‘Head of Learning and Teaching.’
