My name is Gareth Newman and I have been a Teacher of Physical Education for the past 8 years.
I graduated from Leeds Beckett University in 2008 with a degree in Sports Development followed by a GTP in Physical Education with Sheffield Hallam.
Alongside my career in Education I have played Rugby Union semi-professional, domestically and had a year playing abroad as a full time professional. Although my passion and specialty is Rugby I have several other sporting interests that have contributed to my success in the teaching profession.
Having now pretty much retired from the rugby playing scene, my passion lies firmly in Education. I now hope to pass on and inspire the core values and morals that inspired me by my PE teachers onto the future generation.
After qualifying as a full time teacher in 2011 I have taught in a number of schools both in the UK and Internationally here in the UAE. In the middle of this I took a small break from teaching to explore my passion for rugby as a player returning in 2014. Most recently I have taken on academic positions within the PE department and this year will lead on all our BTEC courses across the secondary school.
