Michelle Foley

My name is Michelle Foley and I joined Safa Community School in 2023. I am part of the Science department and I am very much looking forward to starting this academic year!

About Me

I am from Limerick which is in the west of Ireland. I have always loved Science and helping people so teaching was the perfect fit for me. Outside of teaching I enjoy playing Irish music – I play the accordion and have done so since I was 4. I love to travel and I have recently got my PADI certification for Open water diving so I can’t wait to go on some dives.

My Experience

I graduated from Ireland with a Degree in Biological and Chemical Science. I spent the first two years of my career in the UK where I was heavily involved with KS3 and KS4 Science. Since then, I have taught in Dubai for the last 5 years. In that time I have specialised in both Biology (IB) and Chemistry (A level) as well as teaching KS3, Combined and Triple Science. I have been the KS3 coordinator in my last school for 2 years. I have thoroughly enjoyed developing a curriculum for the younger students which an emphaisis on Scientific and Practical Skills. This has allowed us to ensure the students are not only well equipped for KS3, but have a strong foundation when they enter KS4.
