My name is Nicola Lamont and I work as a Teaching Assistant for Inclusion in Year 1. I am originally from Scotland and joined the Safa family in 2014.
I have lived in Dubai for over 10 years with my family. I enjoy keeping active and spend my weekends watching my children participate in their chosen sports activities. I love being outdoors in the sunshine, especially when the cooler weather arrives and I can enjoy longer walks with my dogs, go to the beach and have BBQs with family and friends. I previously worked as a Make-up Artist for 15 years, being involved in many amazing photoshoots and media campaigns, and still enjoy being creative with makeup, getting involved with the school shows when I can.
I started as a Teaching Assistant in FS2 when SCS opened, and I quickly realised I had a love for supporting children in their learning. As the school has grown my experience and knowledge has also grown and I have gained my Teaching Assistant Diploma, completed Phonics training, and completed a course in Supporting International Learners with Dyslexia. This is my 5th year in Year 1 and my 3rd with the Inclusion team and I feel very lucky to be doing a job that I love, working with and supporting students with any barriers to learning they may have, helping them find strategies that promote their learning whilst keeping it fun and engaging for them. I have a passion for Phonics and really enjoy creating lessons and resources that have a multi-sensory approach and will aid students in their learning. I continue to learn from our students everyday which increases my desire to research and further develop my knowledge in areas of interest that I have.
