This year I’m really excited to be Performing Arts teacher at Safa Community School. I’ve been involved in Music, Drama and Dance all my life and understand the importance of the Performing Arts in developing confidence, creativity and expression in others. I aim to keep my lessons exciting and inclusive so that all children have a positive attitude towards the Performing Arts.
I am from Cork in Ireland and graduated with a Bachelor of Education Degree in 2013. I’ve spent over ten years teaching in the UK, Ireland and Dubai and have loved experiencing many different cultures. Growing up I was part of a traditional Irish Music group ‘Cuisle Avondhu’ while also part of the Cork VEC youth orchestra. As well as this, I performed in many musicals including ‘The Sound of Music’ and ‘Annie’. This inspired my love for music and my desire to instil this love of the Performing Arts in others. I’m a friendly, outgoing teacher who likes to approach tasks with a growth mind-set and encourage this in my students. I love to play the violin, travel and spend time with my family.
I graduated from Mary Immaculate College with a Bachelor of Education Degree in 2013. Since then I’ve had over ten years’ experience teaching in the UK, Ireland and Dubai. I’ve taught a range of classes and subjects in Key Stage One and Key Stage Two, including a role as Special Education Teacher and Music Coordinator. I’ve completed Grade 8 in classical violin with the Royal Irish Academy of Music and have taught violin over the years. Recently, in Ireland, I had the role of Assistant Principal where I helped raise the profile of the Arts throughout the school by setting up a Musical Theatre Club and establishing a school choir. I look forward to using this experience to guide my teaching in Safa Community School.
