In my classroom, I aspire to teach lessons that are engaging, fun and incorporate all aspects of the Computing triangle: Information Technology, Computer Science and Digital Literacy. In a rapidly evolving technological world, I make it a priority within my lessons to teach the children the importance of maintaining a positive digital footprint at all times. Within my lessons, my main focus is always preparing the children for not only their future school years, but also their future careers. For example, this could be using graphic design on Canva, Word Processing and Data using the Google Suite or Coding using Microsoft Arcade.
In 2014, I graduated from the University of Cumbria in Lancaster, England with a PGCE specialising in Primary Education. At my first school in the UK, my specific subject role was to lead the subject Computer Science. As this was a relatively new subject that had been created within the 2014 British Curriculum, my role extended to curriculum design for the school, leading staff CPD and creating policies which ensured the safety of the children whilst using the digital devices within the school. Alongside leading Computer Science, I have also taught within every year group in KS2 as a Classroom Teacher. From my previous school in the UAE, I am also a certified Google Educator which allows me to enhance digital learning experiences not only within computing, but also other subjects within the classroom.
