Thomas Loughran
Head of Year 6 and MAGT leader
I am excited to welcome you to 6TL and to be Head of Year 6 for the upcoming academic year. It is going to be my third year here at Safa Community school, and I am sure it is going to be a good one.
About Me
After completing a BSc Hons in Zoology at Manchester University, I then undertook a PGCE in Primary Education at Edge hill University – graduating in 2015. Since then, I have built up my experience as an educator and I am looking forward to bringing what I have learnt to SCS this year. I enjoy being active and keeping fit; I regularly go to the gym and I am a member of a running club. I have also played football and gaelic football competitively since childhood, although I don’t think I’m quite as good as I used to be! I also really enjoy reading and try to make sure I find time to read as often as possible.
My Experience
I am very grateful for the experiences and opportunities afforded to me by Safa. An experienced Year 6 teacher, I use assessment to ensure all children are challenged to further their understanding while creating a safe environment for trying new things, making mistakes and talking through problems. In my first year at Safa I was made Head of MAGT as part of the curriculum team; It is fantastic to see and help cater for all of the wonderful skills and talents our students have! This year I will be adding to my role as Head of Year 6 and I am very much looking forward to another great year at SCS.
