Safa Community School Raises the Bar: World-Class Facilities for World-Class Talent

Safa Community School is redefining what it means to be a school in Dubai, unveiling new facilities that would make any professional sports club or performing arts venue proud. From elite-level pitches to cutting-edge performance centres, these investments are designed to allow every student to excel on the world stage.

"With growth comes success, and as a forward-thinking school, we are always looking for opportunities to develop our internal infrastructure and partnerships. "These new facilities are about giving our students the best, whether they are pursuing excellence in sport, the arts, or academics, and ensuring they have the tools to achieve on a global stage, " said Mr. Michael Davies, Vice Principal.

Safa Community School Announces Groundbreaking External Partnerships Following Major Facility Investments

Safa Community School (SCS), one of the UAE’s leading private schools, is proud to announce a series of transformative partnerships following substantial investments in its sporting and performing arts facilities. These developments reflect the school’s commitment to excellence and have positioned it as a national talent development and artistic achievement hub.

SCS has been recognised as a Football Centre of Excellence, opening the door to a landmark collaboration with the UAE FA authorities. As part of this partnership, the country’s football governing body will work closely with SCS to identify, mentor, and accelerate outstanding student athletes into national age group squads.

In an unprecedented initiative, international players at SCS will benefit from elite training delivered by UA FA Alicensed coaches and supported by former professional footballers. Philippe Senderos, a former Swiss international and Arsenal Premier League defender, is among these mentors. Arsène Wenger, former Arsenal FC Manager and current Chief of Global Football Development at FIFA, provides strategic oversight for the project. The school’s Performing Arts programme also thrives through a new collaboration with the Olivia Conti Performing Arts School. This partnership aims to elevate the quality of instruction and performance at SCS, offering students expert mentorship, access to high-level coaching, and expanded opportunities within the arts sector.

The performing arts at Safa Community School have reached an exciting new chapter through our partnership with Olivia Conti Performing Arts, a renowned institution recognised for excellence in training young performers. This collaboration provides our most talented drama, dance, and music students access to world-class coaching, industry insight, and performance opportunities that rival professional settings.

Through this partnership, many of our most gifted performers have been awarded scholarships to study directly with Olivia Conti Performing Arts. These scholarships recognise the students’ exceptional ability and provide them with pathways into higher education and professional careers in the performing arts.

Vice Principal Mr Mike Davies said, “Our partnership with Olivia Conti Performing Arts ensures that Safa students have access to the same standard of training and opportunity as the best in the world. These scholarships are not just awards but life-changing opportunities for our students to turn their passion into a future career. ” This investment complements the school’s performing arts facilities, including specialist rehearsal rooms, advanced lighting and sound systems, and the capacity to stage unforgettable productions. Together, these resources inspire creativity, celebrate talent, and ensure every student has the platform they need to excel.

Safa Community School will host the inaugural ‘AMP’ Awards to celebrate this creative development. At this student-led music showcase, the school’s most talented rock bands will compete on stage in a dynamic performance event. This promises to be a highlight of the year, spotlighting the school’s dedication to fostering artistic innovation.

Safa Community School Announces Groundbreaking External Partnerships Following Major Facility Investments

“These partnerships result from our continued investment in outstanding facilities and our vision to develop wellrounded, world-class learners through sport, music, and the arts. We are creating real pathways for our students to succeed beyond the classroom, ” said Mr Michael Davies, Vice Principal. With state-of-the-art infrastructure, elite coaching expertise, and world-class partnerships, SCS continues to define excellence in education and holistic student development.

New Infrastructure for 2025

A purpose-built second full-size floodlit 4G pitch is a significant step forward for Safa Community School’s sports programme. Built to professional standards, it accommodates football and rugby squads and hosted the prestigious BMSE Big School Games. “This pitch not only gives our athletes the quality surface they deserve, it also allows us to host more fixtures and inspire the next generation of sporting talent, ” said Mr Mike Davies, Vice Principal.

In addition to this, a new Strength and Conditioning Performance Centre now provides a high-performance training space with Olympic lifting platforms, functional training equipment, and advanced machines for Hyrox and MetCon-style workouts. It supports our elite student athletes representing countries such as the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, South Africa, and Italy. “Our athletes can now train at the same standard as their international rivals while continuing to excel academically, ” added Mr Mike Davies

Over two hundred competitive teams compete weekly at Safa, benefitting from expanded athletics tracks and covered pool facilities. These improvements ensure year-round training, support a broader range of sports, and encourage more students to get involved. “Sport at Safa is about more than winning, it is about teamwork, resilience, and building the confidence to take on any challenge, ” said Mr Mike Davies.

The performing arts have also received significant investment, with new specialist rooms, professional lighting and sound, and scholarships awarded through partnerships with leading organisations. “Our students are not just performing, they are creating unforgettable experiences and building skills that will stay with them for life, ” Mr Mike Davies.

Finally, these new facilities have enriched the curriculum, enabling additional GCSE, A Level, and BTEC sport courses. This allows students to combine academic study with real-world practice, preparing them for higher education, sports, health, and performance careers

“We are giving our students the facilities, the opportunities, and the belief to compete on any stage in the world. The vision continues to be academic excellence, combined with elite sporting opportunities. "When our students step onto the pitch, the stage, or into an international sporting arena, they compete with the best in the world. It’s our job to give them an environment where excellence is the standard and their potential has no limits, " concluded Mr. Michael Davies.

We are extremely proud of our class of 2025, who have performed exceptionally well with a record set of results at A-Level, AS Level and BTEC, with multiple departments securing 100% A* to B grades and a record number of students earning straight A* as well as Distinction* results.

This year’s outcomes reflect not only the dedication and resilience of our students, but also the school’s unwavering commitment to excellence in Learning and Teaching. In subjects including Economics, History, Further Mathematics, Spanish, Art, and Arabic, every student achieved a grade B or higher, while outstanding performances in STEM subjects saw 100% A*to A in Further Mathematics and Chemistry, achieving 92% A* to A.

These results are the product of a culture at Safa Community School that drives independent thinking, critical analysis, creativity and the confident application of knowledge. Our students are challenged daily to go beyond; they are encouraged to question, to challenge, to problem solve, and to adapt their learning to real world contexts. This academic mindset, combined with the expertise and dedication of our teachers, is what drives such exceptional outcomes. As evident in the results that our students have achieved, in every respect they are leading learning.

The breadth and depth of the Safa curriculum has been a key driver of this success and as our Principal Leanne Fridd mentioned many of these students have been at Safa since the doors opened. They have benefited from our ‘through school’ approach to nurturing learning. Alongside their A-Level and BTEC studies, many students completed additional qualifications such as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), developing advanced research skills and academic independence. Others thrived through creative and performance pathways, including LAMDA speech and drama awards, and RSL music and performance qualifications, reflecting the school’s commitment to developing well rounded, confident young adults. All of which was showcased at the end of the academic year as we hosted our own TEDx conference with students from Year 7 to Year 13 speaking which was a huge success.

This holistic approach ensures that students are not only academically accomplished but also equipped with the curiosity, adaptability, and resilience needed for university and beyond. These confident young learners leave here to attend their first choice University’s and we know they will continue to thrive. We are incredibly proud of every one of them and grateful to our dedicated staff and supportive families who have shared in their journey.

Safa Community School’s results continue to set a benchmark for academic excellence in the UAE, underscoring the school’s position as a leader in innovative, high quality education. I mention this every year, but there really is something special here at Safa Community School, and we are extremely proud of our students.

“These results are a true reflection of our whole school community. Many of our students have been with us since the beginning of the school’s opening, and their achievements show the value of consistent, high-quality education. With low staff turnover, our students benefit from stability and strong relationships with their teachers, who truly know and understand them. "

As a growing community school, Safa continues to build its reputation for academic success. Each year, results have improved, matching the school’s commitment to both academic and personal development. This year’s results are among the best in our history – the result of hard work, dedication, and a supportive school culture.

The Board of Governors and school owners have praised the achievements of the students and expressed their appreciation for the staff, whose commitment and passion continue to drive the school forward. “This isn’t just about grades – it’s about the power of a whole school community working together, ” said one governor. “Our values and community spirit are at the heart of everything we do. ”

We want to sincerely thank our incredible staff, supportive parents, and our hardworking students – your efforts make all the difference.

A special thank you to the Sixth Form Leadership team, Mrs. O’Donnell, Mr. Makin, Mrs. Lunt and Ms. Cockcroft for supporting and guiding our senior students throughout this journey. A special thank you must go to both Mr. Davies and Mr. Glackin for constantly advocating for our senior students, through facilities, curriculum offering and support.

To our Year 13 graduates – we are incredibly proud of you. With such a strong foundation, we know you are ready to take on whatever comes next.

This was another phenomenal year, another year of firsts, with our students continuing to set the bar at new heights.

From our high flying Computer Scientists, Youssef setting his sights on UCL, Yaniv will pursue his passion of Mathematics with Data Science at LSE, Junaid will stay closer to home at Carnegie Mellon, Qatar, while Mustafa will head off to the States to University of Illinois Urbana Champaign Grainger College of Engineering.

Not to be outdone our globe trotting future doctors will also span the globe with Jana choosing to stay here at MBRU, while Louay will study at Weill Cornell Medicine, Qatar, and Mohammed Farahat setting his sights on Charles University, Prague and Ziza will continue the international theme and will study medicine at San Raffaele University, Italy while Sarah Hampton is off to Ulster University to study Physiotherapy, NYU Abu Dhabi where Sarah Ahmed continues to trail blaze in the world of STEM with Ammar studying Mechanical Engineering at Warwick University.

Business and Finance are very well represented this year, with both Thomas and Rocco heading to the University of Exeter to study Finance and International Business, respectively. Nasser is leading the way in Law with a place at the University of Bristol, and our first archaeologist, Callum, is off to the University of Exeter to study there.

All in all an utterly phenomenal year

We are incredibly proud of the drive and motivation seen by our Year 13 cohort with many students choosing to study additional A Level subjects and add additional qualifications such as the Extended Project Qualification, RSL in Creative Music Industry and LAMDA. Some of our students are opening up the results for as many as six Level 3 qualifications today.

Some of our stand out performers include Ziza Stojanov who has studied four A Level subjects (Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Psychology) and completed the EPQ and has achieved an amazing 5 A*s. She will be accepting a place to study Medicine in San Raffaele University in Italy in the Autumn.

Jana Eissa has studied four A Level subjects (Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology) and achieved an impressive 4 A*s. She will be accepting a place to study Medicine here in Dubai at MBRU in the Autumn.

Youssef Saraya has studied four A Level subjects (Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science and Physics) and achieved an impressive 4 A*s. He has also achieved a perfect 600 in his Mathematics A Level and over 6 papers; he has not lost a single UMS mark. Last year, Youssef was awarded the Top AS Mathematics Student in the World by Pearson Edexcel International. We certainly expect him to achieve the same again this year with an outstanding score such as this. Meanwhile, in Chemistry, he only dropped 1 UMS over the entire five examination papers that he completed and had a final score of 499 out of 500. Youssef will be accepting a place to study Computer Science at UCL in the Autumn

Muhammad Louay Aleriksousi has studied four A Level subjects (Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Arabic) and completed the EPQ and has achieved an amazing 4 A*s and 1 A. He will be accepting a place to study Medicine at Cornell University in the Autumn. Sarah Ahmed has studied four A Level subjects (Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and PE) and has achieved an impressive 2 A*s and 2A’s. She will be accepting a place to study Biomedical Engineering at NYU, Abu Dhabi in Autumn.

Yaniv Lakhani, who says that he likes to keep busy, has certainly done that by choosing to study 5 A Level subjects (Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics and Business) as well as completing the EPQ. Yaniv has achieved 3 A*s, 2 A’s and 1 B and has accepted a place to study Mathematics and Data Science at the London School of Economics in the Autumn.

Meanwhile, some students prefer to keep it simple and straightforward, choosing three subjects and doing them well. Ahmed Haridy has studied three A Level subjects (Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics) and has achieved an amazing 3 A*s. He has also achieved a perfect 500 in his Chemistry A Level and over 5 papers, he has not lost a single UMS mark. Last year, Ahmed was awarded the Top AS Chemistry Student in The World by Oxford AQA International. We certainly expect him to achieve the same again this year with an outstanding score such as this. He will be accepting a place to study Electrical Engineering at AUS in the Autumn. Ahmed is following in the footsteps of his sister, who also graduated from Safa Community School in 2023 with 3 A*s, and who chose to study Chemical Engineering at AUS.

Nasser Abu Huwaij has studied three A Level subjects (Business, History and Sociology) and has achieved an amazing 2 A*s and 1 A. He will be accepting a place to study Law at the University of Bristol in the Autumn.

We are really proud of the variety of subjects and the pathways that we offer for our students. With 24 A Level subjects and 6 BTECs to choose from, many of our students decide on a combination pathway, where they mix A Levels and BTECs. Our students continue to be incredibly successful this year. Shaurya Bajaj has achieved 2 Distinction*s and 1 A* studying BTEC Hospitality and Applied Science, along with Business and Georgia Cowdroy has achieved 2 Distinction*s and 1 A studying BTEC Hospitality and Travel and Tourism, along with Photography.

Some students choose to study a full BTEC pathway and both Troy Ryan and Sarah Hampton have been incredibly successful getting 3 Distinction*s in their subjects and will be accepting their places to study Sports Business Management at Edge Hill University and Physiotherapy at Ulster University respectively in the Autumn.

This is our fifth year of receiving A Level results and as our cohort continues to grow and our offering for students continues to develop, so does the success of our students. In 2021, we had 17 students graduate and leave for University from our original cohort of Year 13 students. Today, we have 62 students who will be leaving us to take their University places all around the world.

Our Sixth Form continues to grow and thrive, getting better and better each year. This year, we welcome a further 120 students into Year 12, and have invested further in staffing and facilities to ensure that these students will be cared for with the same personalised approach that we have been able to provide to our very first cohorts of students. For some families, we will now be welcoming the third sibling to continue to study with us in our Sixth Form. We appreciate the support that we have received from our parent community and the trust that they have in us to support their children to achieve their very best.

As we celebrate another year of outstanding academic results, Safa Community School is equally proud to shine a spotlight on the many ways our Sixth Form students have gone above and beyond in contributing to school life.

Beyond the classroom, our Sixth Form leaders have demonstrated exceptional commitment to service, leadership, and community spirit. From spearheading peer mentoring programmes to organising competitions for younger students, they have actively worked to inspire and support the next generation. Their dedication to gathering feedback from younger pupils has helped shape initiatives that enhance the Safa experience for all.

This year, our students have also channelled their creativity and determination into fundraising events. We are well on the way to reaching our ambitious target of 200,000 AED to build a school in Nepal — a testament to their global citizenship and belief in the power of education to change lives.

Safa Community School, where success is measured in more than grades.

The Sixth Form leadership programme offers students the chance to take part in a rigorous selection process to join the leadership team. Our outgoing leaders have left a lasting mark on Sixth Form life — from organising memorable trips and events to creating legacy walls that will inspire for years to come. Acting as the voice of their peers, they have ensured student ideas and opinions are heard at senior leadership level.

Sixth Form life is about so much more than lessons — it’s about creating moments that will be remembered long after results day. This year, our students have thrown themselves into events that bring the community together and make Sixth Form truly special.

Highlights include our annual 24 Charity Event — a much-loved tradition where both year groups unite for a 24- hour challenge to raise money for worthy causes. This year, they walked non-stop for 24 hours, showing incredible commitment and team spirit. We also held our first ever Spirit Week, with themed days full of laughter, creativity and colour. And, to round off the year, our Year 13s took a nostalgic ‘walk down memory lane’ through the school, revisiting the places and moments that shaped their journey. These experiences strengthen bonds, build pride, and create a lasting sense of community in Sixth Form.
