Ms Mulvey, Head of Year 7 and Inclusion Support Teacher

About Me

My name is Miss Finola Mulvey. I am from Ireland. I moved here in 2017 and worked in GEMS Wellington International School for 5 years as a Teacher of Geography, Onyx House Leader for Year 5 to 11 and Designated safeguarding Lead for Middle School. My Pastoral role is so important in school as I want to ensure all my students and parents are happy. The well-being and safeguarding of my students is my main priority. As a teacher of Geography, I hope to instill a love of the world around us to my students too. I love to travel and as a true geographer have climbed three volcanoes, one of which was Mount Vesuvius and I climbed this as part of a school trip to Italy with 45 students. It was a great experience. I enjoy playing football and Gaelic football which is an Irish sport in my spare time and played here in Dubai on a team Jumeriah Gaels. This year I will be working with the Inclusion department helping to care and support our student’s individual needs.

My Experience

I went to university in the National University of Galway, Ireland where I achieved my Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Geography. I then completed my PGCE in Liverpool and obtained my qualified teacher status. I have been teaching for 11 years now. I taught for 4 years in Liverpool, England and then in Dubai for 7 years. I have experience in teaching Geography Year 7-13, both A levels and IB curriculum, BTEC Travel and Tourism, Social Studies and Moral Education. I have been a Pastoral Leader for 6 years and Designated Safeguarding Lead for 2 years.
