My name is Nadine Hutchinson and at Safa I lead Inclusion across the whole school. I was part of the founding team when Safa Community School opened in 2014.
I’m from a lovely coastal town in the Northeast of England called Whitley Bay. In 2012 I moved to Dubai and joined the Safa family at Safa British School, teaching in the Primary school then moving into Inclusion, before moving to SCS when it opened in 2014. My two children have been at Safa since we arrived in Dubai, and we are all proud to have been a part of the Safa family for so long. I really enjoy living and working in Dubai and feel privileged to have the opportunity to travel and enjoy amazing experiences with my family. I love to visit interesting places with unique geological landforms and try to figure out the underlying geology, especially when there may be fossils hiding within sedimentary rocks.
I qualified as a teacher at Northumbria University and worked in KS1 and 2 in my hometown before moving to Dubai. At Safa, I work with children and their families from FS1 to Year 13. I am passionate about working with children that experience difficulties. I look to create an effective team response to personalising learning experiences by focusing on strengths and find ways to enable learners to develop strategies to support challenges. I am also a qualified Educational Assessor and member of the British Psychological Society, and a Specialist Dyslexia Teacher and member of the Dyslexia Guild. I am currently working towards qualifying as a Specialist Dyslexia Assessor so that I can complete diagnostic reports for children with dyslexia. I see learning as a lifelong process, so I’m always trying to improve my knowledge and understanding of learning difficulties so that I can continue to improve the outcomes for all of our students of determination at Safa.
