Hi, my name is Nathan, I am a British trained Fine Art and Photography educator from Birmingham, England. I studied Fine Art at the University of Aberystwyth, Wales, from 2012 and I graduated in 2015. I have been teaching since 2016 and have been the Head of Photography since 2019.
Early on in my teaching career I knew that I wanted to teach internationally; combining my passion for traveling and exploring cultures, with my passion for all things art. This has lead me to the UAE and Safa Community School.
Outside of the classroom I enjoy cooking, travelling, hiking and exploring new cultures – especially the food!
I have been teaching in a secondary setting since 2016 and have been the Head of Photography since 2019, leading photography within the department from strength to strength; ensuring pupils are given a curriculum for excellence. It has been my mission, since I began teaching, to ensure pupils are given every opportunity to express themselves creatively. I have lead photowalks, in local cities and rural environments, to enrich pupils with creative capital, and real life experiences. During university I had the privilege of working alongside a professional photographer on a range of studio set ups and photoshoots on location. I have worked collaboratively with teachers to curate gallery spaces for students work as well as support creative events within the local community.
