Hello, my name is Sam Bell and I am part of the History department here at SCS. I’m also the very proud Head of Year 10. This will be an exciting time for this group of students as they embark upon their GCSE journey, here at SCS.
One of my biggest achievements in life has to be reaching the peak of the world’s tallest free-standing mountain, Kilimanjaro, after a 4.5-day climb. Whilst challenging, the views of the sun rising from the summit were breath-taking! In my spare time, I enjoy completing escape rooms. As the name suggests, these involve groups ‘escaping’ from themed rooms within a given time limit by solving a series of puzzles, codes and riddles and even locating the occasional key! I am also an avid traveller and have enjoyed exploring what the UAE and surrounding countries have to offer over the last twelve months. I am very passionate about teaching and love being in the classroom, making a difference to the lives of young people. I’m looking forward to meeting all of our new students in the new academic year.
In 2014, I graduated from Leeds University, having completed my PGCE in Secondary History. I have since taught a range of Humanities subjects across KS3, 4 and 5 including History, Politics, Social Studies and Geography. I joined Safa Community School as a History teacher in February 2022, moving from another school here in Dubai. In addition to working within the History department at Safa, I have also held pastoral roles and will continue to work closely with Year 10 students as their Head of Year in this academic year. Before this, I worked in two schools in East Yorkshire for 6 years in roles including Teacher of History, Head of History and Second in Humanities Faculty.
